Starring debutantes Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles, Uppena hit the silver screens yesterday amid good buzz. The film opened to mixed reports but it put on a tsunami-esque show at the box office.
Viashnav Tej set an all-time record with Uppena and here is the breakdown of the box office collections of the film on its opening day.

Total: Rs 9.17 crores share
No other Telugu film starring a debut hero had collected more share than Uppena and Viashnav Tej has set an all-time record with the Buchibabu Sana directorial. The record was previously held by Akhil’s debut film Akhil- The Power of Juah(Rs 7.6 crores) and Uppena breached it by a comfortable margin.
Uppena needs to collect over Rs 20 crores to yield profits to the buyers and it has recovered 45% of the investment on the opening day itself.
Uppena released in over 1000 theatres in the Telugu states and the newly approved 100% occupancy regulation seems to have largely helped the cause here. Younger section of audience is lapping up the film.
