Saindhav Review
Venkatesh Daggubati has collaborated with young filmmaker Sailesh Kolanu for his latest film, Saindhav which released in the theaters today. Here’s our review of the film which is promoted to be an action thriller.
Story: Saindhav Koneru, SaiKo(Vekatesh) leads a happy life with his daughter in a town. He gets into a confrontation with a cartel who supplies young kids to ISIS to help with terrorism. One day, he is met with a sensitive situation after he comes to know that his daughter is struggling with a rare medical condition that requires a costly injection that costs Rs 17 crore. He gets back to doing what he infamously did in the past to pool in the resources. What did he do in the past? Can he get enough resources on time to save his daughter? Does he have any connection with the Cartel in the past? Rest of the story has to be watched on the silver screen
How did the actors perform?
Venkatesh is a versatile actor and he turns a new leaf in his book with this action driven character that has a fair bit of emotional connect as well. Sailesh has presented Venky in a fresh manner and the seasoned actor excels in his role. Shraddha Srinath has good screen time and she delivers whatever is expected of her. Mukesh Rishi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are seen in antagonist role. Nawazuddin delivers very good performance. His Telugu dubbing is peculiar but it does the job. Ruhani Sharma as doctor did her part well.
What about the off screen talents?
The director of the film, Sailesh Kolanu picks a thriller subject and presents Venky in an intense manner. His story is okayish but the screenplay/narration becomes monotonous and boring as things proceed. His direction is good in parts but overall lacks punch as he could not give high to the audience.
The background score is something that could have been better. The did not add to the intensity or mood of the film many a times. The visual presentation is good and so is the action choreography. Making values are also good.
What’s hot?
Venkatesh’s performance
Nawazuddin’s performance
Some Action blocks
What’s not?
Flat narration
Serious tone throughout
Not much entertainment
Music/BGM
Verdict: Saindhav has some good storyline and action sequences but narration falls flat and serious throughout and feels bit overwhelming towards the climax..Songs and BGM are not upto the mark as well in this serious tone movie and the entertainment portion is only provided by Nawazuddin Siddique which may not be enough to help the movie. Overall, its an sub par action thriller.
