The AP High Court has issued key directions on the unanimities of Punganur and Macherla. The High Court has issued directions on forced unanimities and rejection of nominations. HC directed the SEC to consider the complaints and issue directions accordingly. The court ordered that action be taken in accordance with the regulations.
There was a strong unanimity in the second phase of the panchayat elections. 73 consensus were registered for 77 villages in the Macherla constituency. Macherla is the most unanimous constituency in the state. In the previous ZPTC and MPTC elections, the YCP had won unanimously all the seats in Macherla.
However, the TDP alleges that all these unanimities are forced ones. Criticisms are surfacing that the AP panchayat elections have become a platform for threats and kidnappings.
