Unlock 2.0 : Guidelines and Rules

Unlock 2.0 brings a few new exemptions but one has to follow the routine under its new rules and regulations that too when COVID-19 is in its peak in terms of transmission. Unlock Phase-2, beginning from July 1, with relaxations in night curfew, provision for more domestic flights and trains, and clearance for more than five people in a shop.

  • Movement of individuals will remain prohibited from 10 pm to 5 am across the country. Previously it was 9pm to 5 am.
  • However, schools and all educational institutions and metro rails will remain closed till July 31st. The guidelines issued on May 30 had said a decision on the opening of schools and colleges would be taken in July.
  • Gyms and theatres can be opened in non-containment zones but most probably no state will act in favor of this exemption.
  • Social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions and other large congregations are prohibited.
  • Only ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES are allowed in containment zones with the strict perimeter.
  • Other guidelines with regard to wearing masks, expected measures at the workplace, and use of the Aarogya Setu app have been reiterated as in the past.
  • The main thing is the Central government has given complete liberty to the states for allowing activities in the non-containment zones.
  • However, there shall be no restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods. No separate permission/ approval/ e-permit will be required for such movements.
  • Between 10 pm to 5 pm, movement of persons and goods on National and State Highways, loading and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains, and airplanes are prohibited.

This will be the second phase of unlocking the country where night curfew will be relaxed and more economic activities opened up. Lockdown will remain implemented strictly in the containment zones till July 31, the government guidelines said and the people in non-containment zones can enjoy specific benefits as we can see.
