Gunasekhar managed to bring star actress Samantha on-board for his upcoming project, Shakuntalam, which is billed to be a love drama based on mythological characters.
For a while now, Gunasekhar has been trying to rope in a Tollywood star for Dushyanta, the male lead character in the film. But no top star is interested in the film as the story is predominantly based on Samantha and her character would overpower the male lead.
After exploring a few options, Gunasekhar is said to have finalized Malayalam actor Dev For the male lead role.
Dev Mohan made his debut with Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujathayum and he has apparently given his nod for Shakuntalam.
Also, Gunasekhar feels that roping in an actor from other industry would give the film a bigger canvas and market.
An official announcement on the actor who would play the male lead will be made sooner than later.
