TB Special Story: Tollywood Heroes then and now

We keep hearing that the heroes apart from taking huge remunerations are becoming partners which means they get a good share from the profits which rightfully belongs to the producers.

Why are these producers keeping mum, why are they not able to dictate terms to these stars? Actually when the producers are willing to shell out money, why will these people hesitate to ask?

The heroes will work with only those producers who listen and adhere to their terms and conditions. Very soon many producers will disappear. Why seniors, a lot more existing ones will vanish.

Already a producer who is making films by bringing funds from America is in dire situation; he has many financial issues abroad but is managing to put up a smiling face while his executive producer in the front end makes everything seem rosy and cool.

It is time stars begin thinking about the producers as there is no source of recovery. If they don’t change, they will be thrown out and someone will replace them.

This current situation hopefully should bring about a change in atleast a few. Those days, stars like NTR would worry about the producer’s financial health.

If NTR was offered five lakh as his pay, he would refuse and take only ten thousand rupees. He would summon the distributors and enquire how much his last flop film collected. If the reply is sixty lakh, he would ask how much his current disastrous film getting at the box office.

If the reply is one crore, he would consider the difference which is forty lakh and take ten percent as his share from that amount and hike his remuneration. There would never be any talks of demand and supply. Now the existing heroes ask what their film collected and if you say it is 100 crore, he takes fifty percent home.
