Sourav Ganguly stable and risk-free after coronary angioplasty

Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain and current BCCI president, is “stable” and “completely conscious” subsequent to undergoing an angioplasty on Saturday. Ganguly had been admitted to hospital in Kolkata after suffering chest pain. The health specialists on a check up said it was a heart attack.

It was learnt that the Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly, 48, had felt some “uneasiness” in the chest and vomited out in the morning after doing some strenuous exercise as part of his daily routine. He was later hospitalised to nearby Woodlands Hospital at 1 pm on Saturday where Dr Rupali Basu, the MD & CEO, confirmed that the condition was serious and he must undergo a primary angioplasty.

“He is stable now. He will be under medical supervision for 24 hours,” Dr Aftab, one of the doctors treating Ganguly, told the press. “He is completely conscious. There are two blockages in his heart for which he will be treated. “It is high priority is to let him settle down after heart attack. He is risk-free and talking as well”, he added.

It is learnt that on Saturday midnight percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and stenting in his right coronary artery was performed via radial route in minimal invasive procedure. Revasculation to the left anterior descending artery and obtuse marginal artery will be executed later. Ganguly diagnosed negative for covid-19. The hospital authorities after analysing the medical history found that a history of heart disease is prevalent in Sourav’s family.
