It always happens that a not so great director becomes a persona non grata during shootings and will be confined to following certain formalities. More so if the film has a big star as a hero.
Venu Sreeram’s film MCA took off after his first film failed. MCA became a hit primarily because Nani was at the peak of his career and Sai Pallavi fresh from her success of Fida made for a great combination. That pulled the crowds to the theatre, it wasn’t the director’s film at all.
Later Dil Raju gave him Icon but due to some swift developments, Bunny chose to work with Sukumar and Pavan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab came as an unexpected entry.
Since he didn’t have any work, Venu Sreeram was moved to this film. It is the cinematographer P.S Vinod who is pulling the strings and the director hardly has any work to do on the sets.
Another director who is a dummy is Harsha of Husharu fame. He is directing Rowdy Boys for namesake but it is cinematographer Madhie always and sometimes it is Dil Raju who visits the sets to supervise it.
For both the films, Dil Raju is always on the sets and careful that nothing unpleasant happens. There are like these some more dummy directors who need employment and prefer not taking the credit.
