Nithiin is taking the mass route with Macherla Niyojakavargam. The film is promoted as a mass fare and it released in theaters today. Let’s see what it has to offer.

Story: Siddharth Reddy(Nithiin) is a topper in Civil exams and is awaiting his appointment. His childhood friend Catherine has feelings for him but he doesn’t reciprocate. One day, he meets Krithi Shetty and falls for her. But she leaves for Macherla all of a sudden. Siddharth follows her, only to know about a dreaded criminal, played by Samuthirakani who ruthlessly holds Macherla under his control. Siddharth then gets posted as a Collector in Macherla and he then takes on the goon. What follows is a one-on-one fight between the duo.

What About On Screen Performances?

Nithiin has tried a mass look for Macherla. Looks wise, he offers something new. But sadly that is the only thing that is new in the film. Every other thing, including the story and screenplay, are outdated. Coming back to Nithiin, he tries his best to fit into the mass role and does a decent job at it.

Krithi and Catherine have limited presence. They do a fairly okayish job. Vennela Kishore is at his comical best in the film. He provides much-needed comical relief with his slapstick comedy. Samuthirakani is alright as the baddie. He carries the negative demeanor with ease.

What about off screen talents

The background score by Mahati Sagar is of decent quality. He comes up with good work for some action shots, but there are times when his score turn too loud. The cinematography is adequate, given that Macherla is a mass film. Production values are good as well.

The director MS Rajasekhar Reddy, is an experienced editor. But he misses the trick with the story. Every scene in Macherla gives an impression that we have watched the exact same scene somewhere else in a Telugu film in the past. The story is routine and the screenplay is very predictable. The film is a compilation of one copy-paste scene after another.

Barring Vennela Kishore’s passable comedy, not a single scene in the film has freshness or the desired commercial high. Things go south even after the conflict point is established as the hero and villain indulge in a ‘routine rotta’ dialogue exchange and poorly written action blocks. There is action but there is no drama fueling it.

What’s Hot?

  • Vennela Kishore Comedy
  • Songs

What’s Not?

  • Lengthy Action Sequences
  • Routine Screenplay
  • Lack of Story
  • Tiring run time

Verdict: Macherla Niyojakavargam is one of those films that right away give an impression that there is nothing new to offer. With the audience looking for content driven films post pandemic, one might wonder if routine formulaic films like Macherla have a way forward. This film lacks in many aspects, including arresting screenplay and an engaging narrative. It makes for an underwhelming watch.

TeluguBulletin.com Rating: 1.5/5

  • Final Report:
