Group Captain Varun Singh, who was the lone survivor of CDS General Bipin Rawat’s Mi17V5 helicopter crash, succumbed to his injuries today at Command Hospital in Bengaluru.
It is known that Varun Singh survived the crash with 90 percent burn injuries and was on life support ever since. However, the Decorated air warrior died exactly a week after the crash.
“IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of braveheart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed this morning to the injuries sustained in the helicopter accident on 08 Dec 21. IAF offers sincere condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family,” Indian Air Force said on Twitter.
The Group Captain was admitted to Wellington hospital in Tamil Nadu with extreme burns last Wednesday. He was shifted to the Command Hospital in Bengaluru from Wellington last Thursday.
