The Telugu Desam Party was at the forefront of the Amaravati issue, with Chandrababu Naidu himself being the chief speaker in Tirupati, at the end of the Amaravati farmers’ padayatra from Tullur to Tirupati. This padayatra made a huge impact in the state, with the Jagan government withdrawing the legislations it passed in the assembly, with regards to its 3 capitals plan. The YSRCP government hasn’t spoken on the matter since then, and the TDP too has become silent on the issue.
The TDP has been focusing on the Kodali Nani Casino issue, the carving of the 13 new districts in the state, and restructuring its party since then, and has been making some progress in the state as well, with respect to its popularity among the people. While some are criticising the party’s silence on the Amaravati issue in all this while, some are commending the step.
Those in support of the TDP’s silence over the Amaravati issue, are saying that the party should talk about the issue only when the Jagan govenremtn talks about it once again, and have even commended that the party hasn’t just limited itself to just fighting over one issue. On the whole, it now seems as though TDP’s silence over the Amaravati issue has been explained. It is now to be seen what other steps that TDP will take in the future, to strengthen its hold on the state once again.
