The newly discovered Omicron variant of Coronavirus is spreading like a wildfire. Telangana’s Hyderabad has now reported three cases of the newly detected variant.
The people were detected among air passengers from non-risk countries. They had arrived at Hyderabad International Airport on December 12 via Abu Dhabi and Qatar, a top health official said.
As per reports, a 24-year-old Kenyan woman, a Somalia national and a seven-year-old is also among the infected people. The seven-year-old was flying to Kolkata and tested positive for Omicron on arrival in Hyderabad. The state government has informed West Bengal.
The official said the cases were asymptomatic, and there was no need for any panic. Meanwhile, the Centre is screening every traveller arriving in India from the 11 countries which have been declared “at-risk”.
