It is a known fact that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has been facing criminal charges in a defamation case that was filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Now, the Queen actress has moved the Bombay High Court, challenging the criminal defamation proceedings started by the Magistrate Court.
In her plea, Ranaut has sought to quash and set aside the entire proceedings initiated by the Magistrate.
In his complaint filed last year, the veteran lyricist had alleged that the actress made defamatory statements on national and international television. He said that Kangana had campaigned to tarnish his reputation in the eyes of the public.
Now, Ranaut’s plea in HC challenged the entire proceeding of the magistrate, comprising all the orders and summons issued to date.
