TDP Chief and ex-Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been served notices by Chittoor district police department, with respect to the death of Om Pratap in the district.
Om Pratap, a Dalit youth and a resident of Punganuru in Chittoor district had recently committed suicide Prior to that, he had criticised the current government and its policies in his various Facebook posts. A few TDP leaders had gone to give their condolences to the family, after which they were house arrested by the local police.
Madanapalli Police have now sent a notice to TDP Chief Chandrababu, asking him to produce evidence with regards to Om Pratap’s death. Chandrababu received this notice from the Madanapalli Sub-divisional Police, under section CRPC 91.
A few days ago, Chandrababu had written to the DGP about the death of Om Pratap. The Police took note of this, and attached a newspaper article about the same in the notice sent to Chandrababu. The Police have also asked Chandrababu to appear in front of them in the next one week, and to meet with them regarding the same issue.
