Recently, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has clarified that the list of voters for the panchayat elections on January 1, 2019, is final for the 2021 panchayat elections.
The court dismissed the petitions filed on the issue of the 2019 voters list for upcoming elections.
The petitions allege that 3.6 lakh people are losing their right to vote. The petitioner asked the High court that elections be held with the updated 2021 list of voters.
The High court did not agree with the petitioner’s arguments and the AP High Court ruled that it could not interfere in the election process of the state.
It struck down two petitions filed by the AP state government in the High Court.
