In Mumbai, the number of active patients who are presently receiving treatment has risen by almost 89 per cent compared to last month. The active case load in the city was observed to be coming predominantly from eight civic wards including Andheri (West), Chembur and Govandi areas. As of Monday morning, the caseload of the Thane district was reported to be 2,69,845.
On Monday, the civic administration in Maharashtra’s Thane declared lockdown from March 13 to 31 in 11 hotspots owing to the rising cases of the Covid-19.
The order was put forth by Thane Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma. It is learnt that all restrictions in place during the nationwide lockdown would be reinforced during this time too which is like a limited lockdown or localised containment zones instead of complete lockdown. For this purpose, 16 hotspots were selected and are beefed up with tight security and surveillance.
30 contacts per newpatient as opposed to 20 at present and 24×7 vaccination centres also mobile ones were initiated at a conference chaired by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday. The meeting was also focused on elements like providing 24×7 vaccination at home, vaccinating elderly and individuals with comorbidities, home isolation & institutional quarantine etc.
The meeting was attended by high rank officials, collectors, divisional commissioners and state’s covid-19 task members.
