The safety precautions has been strongly imposed to public by he Indian government ever since covid-19’s inception. Many assumed that certain rules like social distancing, wearing masks will be lifted as things bounce back to normalcy when a vaccine is launched.
However, the medical safety measures remains intact with regards to Covid-19 for considerably longer duration. People have to oblige aforementioned Covid-19 guidelines even when vaccine is available, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) chief professor Balram Bhargava stated.
ICMR professor addressed at a webinar titled ‘Changing paradigms in Covid-19 management’ at Lucknow’s King George Medical University on Saturday that India is progressing at a great speed in the race of vaccine development.
‘We have a target to supply vaccine to 30 crore people by July next year. The future course of action will be decided after that. India will develop a vaccine, not just for itself but for 60 per cent of the developing nations. Twenty four manufacturing units and 19 firms will be engaged in distributing a Covid-19 vaccine,” prof Bhargava said.
The ICMR director general added that although vaccines are believed to prevent the disease, mask is like a fabric vaccine and never to be ignored. He iterated that vaccines alone cannot eradicate covid-19 and all citizens must continue to be in accordance with the safety protocols.
