Russia has claimed that it has developed the world’s first batch of inoculation of COVID-19 vaccine ‘Sputnik-V’,. The expedited manufacturing comes days after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s declaration saying that the vaccine is ‘quite effective’ and provides “stable immunity”.
On Saturday, as per the Russian news media, The country’s health ministry quoted that the first batch of covid-19 vaccine, indigenously developed by the Gamaleya research institute has been produced.
The vaccine ‘Sputnik-V’ has been named honouring the Soviet-era satellite that was launched into space in 1957.
On August 11, Putin announced that Russia had given vaccine approval to curb coronavirus despite the partly conducted human trials. This has drawn flak from many nations and scientists. Experts raised concerns regarding the needless swift of the country’s work. Researchers in the US, Spain France, and Germany have all suggested to work with caution in assuring the safety as it is public lives that matters at the end of the day.
Health Minister Mikhail Murashko had earlier asserted that first batch of covid vaccine inoculation would be first administered to doctors and then will be made available to all Russians on a voluntary basis. Russia is anticipated to mass produce the vaccine from September.
