Recently, the GST officials have issued notices to Nanaram, a resident of Pali village in the Dungarpur district of Rajasthan. He has been working as a labourer for a long time and has been accused of being a tax evader of Rs 43 lakh.
In the past, Nanaram submitted the relevant documents to the local authorities to apply for works under the Employment Guarantee Scheme in his hometown and in surrounding villages.
However, due to the negligence of the authorities, the documents went missing. Now, some unidentified persons opened an account with Nanaram documents and attempted tax evasion.
The GST authorities sent notices to Nanaram according to the address in the documents. It named Nanaram as the owner of a diamond company worth Rs. 24 crores and demanded immediate payment of Rs 43 lakh.
