Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has done it again. The 27-year-old won her first singles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmingham.
Locking horns against Canada’s Michelle Li, the double Olympic medallist won the gold with a lead of 21-15, and 21-13 in both sets. This was Sindhu’s third Commonwealth Games singles medal and first gold.
Sindhu had strapping on her ankle and it appeared to slow her movements early in the match. However, she had gotten over it and was strongly darting around the court in the second game.
Sindhu earlier won Silver in 2018 and Bronze in 2014 in the Commonwealth Games. She is a double Olympic medallist, having won Silver (Rio) and Bronze (Tokyo). She also won Gold in World Championships (Glasgow 2019) along with Silver in the 2018 Asian Games.
