It is known that Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was arrested on August 1 in connection with alleged irregular financial transactions in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl in suburban Goregaon. The court earlier remanded Raut till August 8.
In the latest development, the Mumbai court on Monday extended Raut’s judicial custody till August 22 following a plea by the Enforcement Directorate.
“ED has prayed for remand of accused in judicial custody. Hence, the accused is remanded to judicial custody till August 22,” the judge said.
After the request of advocate Vikrant Sabne, who is appearing for Sanjay Raut, the court allowed the continuation of previous orders regarding medicine and home food for the Sena leader.
“Medical papers have been produced indicating heart disease and therefore he can be permitted to use home food and medicine,” said the judge.
