According to Alon Gal, a cyber expert who maintains a Twitter account called Under the Breach, the phone numbers of 60 lakh Indians using Facebook have been put up for sale on the Telegram app.
Alon said that the person who sells these phone numbers also claims to have the information of a total of 533 million Facebook users.
He revealed that the hacker got these by propping up a bug on Facebook. These seem to have been collected before 2019. He said that Facebook corrected the error in 2019.
The information has already been taken from over 500 million accounts that have linked the phone number to Facebook. These were put up for sale by a bot in the telegram. This includes information about 60 lakh Indians. It appears to have been on sale since January 12th.
