At the 20th-anniversary celebration of Arya movie, Sukumar, the creative director, revealed an interesting story about the item song “Aa Ante Amalapuram” from the film.
Despite not initially wanting to include item songs in his movies, Sukumar complied with producer Dil Raju’s request. He even admitted to not liking some lyrics and not being able to hire a star heroine due to budget constraints.
However, actress Abhinayasri delivered a stellar performance. Ironically, while Raju stopped including item songs in his subsequent films, Sukumar started incorporating them into all his movies for commercial reasons, despite personal preferences.
Sukumar’s track record with item numbers like Ringa Ringa, Diyalo Diyala, London Babu, Jigelu Rani and Oo Antava showcases his creative approach, even though he claims they’re for commercial gain rather than personal taste.
