Nimmagadda utterly helpless as he writes letters to Governor

The history between the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner and the AP government stretches back to the advent of Coronavirus in AP, and is probably one of the ugliest in history.

The AP government tried its very best to replace Nimmagadda as the SEC of the state, but Nimmagadda fought hard and made sure that he retained his position. Even after Nimmagadda was reinstated as the SEC, the AP government refused to cooperate with him, and it is now more than evident, with the way the government is refusing for the local body elections to be held in February.

Even the AP High Court gave its permission for the elections to be held in February, but the AP government is behaving in a very nonchalant and reckless way. The government is strictly against conducting the elections in February, and has cited Coronavirus as the problem. However, Nimmagadda has repeatedly said that the elections would be made a safe place for everyone to vote.

With the government refusing to bend, and refusing to cooperate with the SEC, despite the SEC being a constitutional institution which does not need to take the permission of the government to conduct elections, Nimmagadda is now writing letters to the Governor about the issue.

Nimmagadda is reportedly hell bent on conducting the elections before or by February because the SEC has to conduct the elections for every 5 years without fail. It is now to be seen if the government keeps up its adamance, or if Nimmagadda will finally able to break through.
