The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has managed to enjoy a staggering majority and support in the state of Telangana, ever since the formation of the Telangana state in 2014. The TRS also made sure it maintained its popularity that way.
Even in the 2018 general elections, the TRS managed to win with a vast margin, relegating all other parties to a bare minimum. However, in the wake of the recent updates, this popularity of the TRS party might be wavering a bit right now, causing huge trouble for the pink party.
Following the surprise win in the Dubbaka by-elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win a major chunk of seats in the GHMC elections as well. When compared to the 4 seats it won in the 2018 GHMC elections, the BJP won 48 seats this year.
With the rising popularity of the BJP in Hyderabad, the TRS is put in a tight corner, more so than ever. Where TRS won 99 seats in the last GHMC elections, it won just 55 seats this year, and while this is a majority in the 150 seat GHMC council, it is a major deflection for the TRS.
The BJP has now cemented itself as a major contender and the major opposition to TRS in Telangana now, and the TRS should be more cautious than ever for the upcoming general elections.
On the other hand, the BJP is now looking to replicate its success in the other Southern states as well, along with the by-elections for the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Seat.
