Many Hyderabad Muslims say no to Ramadan shopping

Eid-ul-Fitr is probably the greatest celebration for Muslims and they mark this celebration with much happiness, grandeur and pomp. Muslims purchase new garments for Ramadan consistently yet during this COVID-19 grim reality, a battle, “I am not purchasing garments for Eid. Will you?” propelled in Hyderabad in solidarity with poor people.

This battle is picking up force via web-based networking media and individuals are vowing against buying garments for Ramadan. People are spreading messages that they need to donate money to the poor who are enduring due to COVID-19 crisis and progressing across the nationwide lockdown.

Embracing the campaign, Nizam’s descendant Nawab Najaf Ali Khan said that Ramadan month has begun and Eid-ul-Fitr is around the corner. Along these lines, let us disapprove of inordinate and superfluous shopping for Eid and let us help the destitute individuals. He further included that, “Numerous people are starving with hunger pangs and passing on; The cash we spend on our luxury can be utilized to enable a family to endure and live without this frightful vulnerability.”

During Ramadan, Muslims practice Zakat and Fitra charity methods. Zakat is donating 2.5 percent of the money accumulated in a year to the needy and poor whereas Fitra is to provide 2.5 kgs of staple food to the poor.

The #SayNoToEidShopping slogan is taking the internet by storm and people are sharing their heartfelt messages on Twitter. Here are the few tweets that include messages like:

“Let’s help the needy”
“Pay someone’s school fee”
