Telangana government has given a little relaxation to the private transport and cargo service owners. For the first-quarter, motor vehicle tax payment has been granted for extension to the next month. Commercial vehicles such as buses, lorries, cars and auto in the state are around 4 lakhs. Owners pay motor vehicle tax every three months. And for the current fiscal year, taxes have to be paid by April 30th.
The Telangana Lorry Owners Association and Cabs Owners Association have urged the government to suspend the vehicle tax due to the restriction imposed by the government on vehicular movement owing to the covid-19 lockdown.
As a partial relaxation for people stranded by the ongoing lockdown to pay taxes, the Telangana State Transport commissioner on Thursday extended the deadline for payment of the Motor Vehicle tax by one more month from the date of easing of the lockdown.
This announcement by the commissioner has given a sigh of relief to many motor vehicle tax payers. The Telangana’s motor vehicle department stated in its order that no penalty would be levied on quarterly Motor Vehicle Tax payments within the extended period. A lot of chaos occurred among the vehicle owners lately, due to the non allowance and strict monitoring by the policemen on roads.
