Manmadhudu 2 review and rating

Director: Rahul Ravindran

Producers: Akkineni Nagarjuna, Kiran P

Music: Chetan Bharadwaj

Cast: Nagarjuna, Rakul Preeth Singh, Vennela Kishore etc.

Rating: 2.5/5

Story:

Sambasiva Rao Alias Sam (Nagarjuna) is a middle-aged playboy settled in Portugal. He decides not to marry, due to the painful past, he had, but turns a playboy, who is keen about one night stand. Sam’s mother (Lakshmi) forces him to get married as she falls ill. Left with no option, he introduces Rakul as his girlfriend, appointing her for money. The consequences of the drama, forms the rest of the story of Manmadhudu 2.

Performances:

Nag as a middle-aged bachelor is impressive on the screen. As the Akkineni star is known for his romantic image, he was able to nail his character on the screen. On the other side, Rakul gets a bold role in the film, in which she was able to fit herself perfectly. Avanthika’s character has every chance for Rakul to make it big soon.

After both male and female leads, it is Vennela Kishore who got a decent role in the film, with enough screen time. His comedy timing acts as a major savior of Manmadhudu 2.

Technical Highlights:

One major mistake of Manmadhudu 2 is the weak story line. Adding to it the logic-less scenes, adult dialogues and scenes, spoils the mood of the audiences, watching the film in the theatres. Even the background score is just an average.

Cinematography and editing are the major highlights of Manmadhudu 2, from the technical point of view. Except the double meaning content that troubles the family audience, the rest other dialogues are good and so the production values.

Analysis:

As the 2002 Manmadhudu was well appreciated, even Manamadhudu 2 was able to win the immediate attention, considering it to be on the lines of the original. But the latest film has a zero connectivity for the first one, be it in story line, comedy, songs or any other part of the film.

There is no proper convincing story of why the hero decided to stay away from marriage, which is what acted as one of the major drawbacks of the film. Director Rahul Ravindran, who was able to impress with his directorial debut “Chi La Sow”, unfortunately couldn’t repeat the magic with Manmadhudu 2.

Finally: Manmadhudu 2- A misfire.
