After the immeasurable surge in the covid cases, many medical shops and distributors unabashedly increased the prices of masks and sanitizers in many states without any fair practice in setting the limits. This is causing great inconvenience to the citizens.
Maharashtra, which is the most exceedingly awfully effected state with COVID-19, has become the first state in the nation to set the price cap for face masks during Coronavirus pandemic. It consequently aims to set cap price for sanitisers too. A council has been framed to regulate limit on the cost of masks.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that the committee has put forth its recommendations and formal order will soon be served. He also confirmed that actual prices of N-95 maks will be capped at a range of Rs 19-50 maximum for every mask depending on the type and no increase will be entertained. However, the double and triple layer masks will be available for only Rs 3 to 4.
“The rates have been finalised after a detailed analysis of the process and cost of manufacturing, availability and affordability of raw material and demand in the market,” he said. “ This period of a pandemic is not meant for profiteering. The prices of sanitizers are also being capped as well,” minister Rajesh added.
