India skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday slipped to fifth place in the latest ICC test rankings as his English counterpart Joe Root climbed the third position in the rankings for batsmen.
Following a 227-run defeat in the first Test, Kohli pushed to the fifth spot. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin moved up in the bowlers’ chart. Ashwin and Bumrah jumped to seventh and eighth positions, respectively.
Joe Root, in his 100th Test, smashed a double century in the first innings against India and scored 40 runs in the second essay. Kohli, on the other hand, totalled 11 and 72 respectively in two innings and they were not enough to maintain his fourth place in the positions.
Kane Williamson is one the top spot, followed by Steve Smith. Pujara is at 7th, Henry Nicholls at 8th, Ben Stokes 9th and David Warner at 10th in the latest rankings.
