When Nara Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minsiter of Andhra Pradesh, he laid down several plans for the development of Amaravati as a world-class capital. He tied up with several international companies for the development of Amaravati, including Norman Foster, which gave many designs for the development of the capital.
The AP government owed a lot of money to the international company, but given that the Jagan government put everything related to Amaravati on hold as soon as they came to power, neither did any work get done on the capital nor did any revenue generate for the payment of the company. Despite several notices being served to the AP government for the payment of dues, the AP government simply ignored these notices.
Now, Norman Foster has filed a case in the Supreme Court, against the Andhra Pradesh government, for not having paid them their dues. With the international company now going to court, it is to be seen whether the AP government will finally pay its dues or if it will come up with some bizarre explanation.
