A farmer named Malothu Balu from Thallapalli Tanda in the Medak district of Telangana died of electric shock on a farm. In Telangana, farmers are eligible for insurance in case of an accident to the farmers. But to claim the insurance, the farmer needs a registration passbook, but Malothu Balu did not have that. The village farmers approached the MRO office several times asking for passbooks but to no avail.
Now, officers said that the dead farmer was ineligible for insurance as he did not have a registration passbook. Hence, the farmers staged a protest in front of the MRO office in Shivampeta. One of the farmers poured diesel on Tahsildar Bhanuprakash in a rage as the Tahsildar ignored them and walked away. Authorities immediately alerted the police and evacuated Tahsildar.
