Food delivery companies share staff’s health condition

India’s most sought after food delivery platforms like Zomato, Swiggy and Rebel Foods, which owns brands Behrouz Biryani and Ovenstory, and tea chain Chaayos began to share temperature readings of couriers, cooks and other delivery men involved in the preparation of food.

The move came in the wake of health risks feared by customers. So to make customers more comfortable these delivery companies have begun taking precautions to amp up hygiene practices to monitor corona virus transmission.

Zomato and Swiggy, who are aggregators of restaurants generally inspect the site and issues hygiene report with a rating. However, the emergence of virus has created more problems to small business owners and start ups. The delivery partners have come up with a solution of providing health condition of their respective restaurants.

Since few weeks, it started highlighting restaurants that do health checks frequently and more prominently. Rebel Foods adopted the practice of sharing temperatures of every staff personnel involved in making the meal since last week and also chalked out a plan to share a medical certificate of those involved from forthcoming week.

In these times, trust is above everything else and consumers will also prefer more branded restaurants. Our kitchens operate under cameras 24×7 and we take the temperature of those working every three hours,” said Jaydeep Barman, CEO of Rebel Foods.

Chaayos, a chai adda that serves snacks besides tea, was one of the first to measure and show temperatures of their staff involved in preparing the meals since March 24 just after the Janta Curfew.
