The Election Commission of India has asked Telangana Chief Minister KCR to keep in mind the model code of conduct during the election campaigning.
In a public meeting earlier, KCR severely went against BJP and Congress, saying that both the national parties are projecting themselves as the representatives of Hinduism.
KCR remarked, “We are more devoted Hindus than anyone in the country. Congress and BJP are acting as if they are representatives of Hinduism. Both the national parties are doing so, only with the political interests and nothing else.”
The TS CM further opined that the nation can witness progress, only when it gets rid of both BJP and Congress.
Responding to these comments, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) President M Rama Raju has given a written complaint to ECI, which read, “KCR has termed ‘Hindugallu and Bondugallu.’ This remark has hammered down the sentiments of Hindus. His speech was aimed at bringing divisions within the Hindus. The CM has violated Model Code of Conduct.”
After reviewing the complaint, ECI has concluded that the Chief Minister has violated the Election Code and also disturbed the sentiments of people.
When ECI issued a notice to KCR seeking his response, the dynamic CM, however condemned the statements of VHP as false and baseless. But after proper scrutiny, ECI has clarified that the TS CM violated the election code and so warned him not to use the public sentiments like religion, caste, language, tradition, etc. for the political benefits.
