Dubbaka by-polls lead to major clash between BJP and TRS

The Dubbaka by-elections are all the craze right now, for all the major political parties in Telangana. With TRS getting a major hit this year, because of the way it handled Coronavirus, and the way it has recently handled the floods due to the incessant rains in the state, BJP is trying its very best to win the Dubbaka by-elections.

BJP nominated Raghunandan Rao as its candidate for the Dubbaka by-polls. Raghunandan Rao had contested in these elections the last 2 times as well, and had lost in them. Now, the Police of Siddipet had searched the houses of Raghunandan Rao’s kin, without a proper search warrant.

Minister of state for home Kishan Reddy, of BJP, severely criticised this action of the TRS party, who he says is behind this search, and has said that he would take this incident to the notice of the Election Commission, Union government and party central leadership. Kishan Reddy has also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had called him, inquiring about the incident.

Kishan Reddy said that the TRS is targeting BJP and especially Raghunandan Reddy because he is the contestant in the Dubbaka elections, and mainly because the TRS is afraid of the increasing popularity of the BJP in the state. Kishan Reddy also said that the arrest of BJP leaders, including party president Bandi Sanjay is highly objectionable, and said that he would make sure that there is proper action taken against it.

The real trouble began when 19 Lakhs were found in the home of Raghunandan’s kin, in Siddipet. In the confrontation that followed between the police and the inmates of the house, Raghunandan had fainted. Following that, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay, former Member of Parliament from Peddapalli, and BJP leader, G. Vivek Venkataswamy, also known as G. Vivekanand, and several other BJP Telangana leaders were arrested as well. Bandi Sanjay has even sustained some minor injuries.

After Dubbaka MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy died due to a heart attack recently, the Dubbaka by-elections have had to be put in place. Reddy’s wife Solipeta Sujatha is the TRS’s candidate in the elections, and Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, son of former minister Cheruku Mutyam Reddy, is the Congress candidate for the elections. The elections would be conducted on November 3rd.
