Chandrababu writes a letter on NTR’s statue incident

The son of a prominent YSRCP leader recently vandalised the statue of NTR, the founder of Telugu Desam Party, and also a former Chief Minister of the united state of Andhra Pradesh, in the Guntur district. This has not sat well with many people of the state, and of course, with the TDP. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has now written a letter to the Director-General of Police Gautam Sawang, asking him to take stringent action against the culprit.

Settipalli Koteswara Rao, the son of YSRCP ZPTC member Settipalli Yalamanda, is the one who vandalised NTR’s statue in Durgi, and Chandrababu said that this was part of a larger conspiracy, with which the YSRCP is aiming to spread hatred among the people of AP, towards the TDP. Chandrababu pointed out that the police department should take necessary action against people who are vandalising the statue of prominent figures in the state, like that of NTR, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Potti Sriramulu and others, so that it is not repeated in the future. Furthermore, he questioned why no statues of YS Rajasekhar Reddy were being vandalised and pointed out that this is a perfect example of the way the YSRCP is ruling in the state.

TDP state president K. Atchannaidu also slammed the YSRCP government for not taking necessary action to prevent attacks on the statues of NTR and Ambedkar. The police, on their part, have said that the statue was vandalised when Koteswara Rao was under the influence of alcohol. On the other hand, Guntur Rural Superintendent of Police, Vishal Gunni, directed the deputy superintendent of police to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a report, according to which strict action is expected to be taken against the accused, as per law.
