CBI turns aggressive towards Jagan once again

During the initial stages of the probing, nearly two dozen quid-pro-quo cases against YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the CBI was aggressive against Jagan, lashing out and reprimanding Jagan at every semblance of misconduct on his part. Even when Jagan was the leader of the opposition, from 2014 to 2019, the CBI continued to be aggressive against Jagan.

The CBI refused to give any sort of exemption to Jagan, especially with respect to Jagan not attending the hearings of his quid pro quo cases in person. Jagan was even forced to halt his padayatra every Friday when he was the leader of the opposition to attend CBI Court hearings. Things changed after Jagan became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, with the CBI not being so aggressive against him anymore. The CBI didn’t even strongly oppose any of his exemption petitions anymore.

The CBI is once again being aggressive towards Jagan currently, strongly opposing all the exemption petitions filed by him. The CBI Court expressed anger when Jagan’s lawyer submitted a petition on Tuesday, yet again, seeking exemption from his personal appearance. The court questioned his lawyer why Jagan was abstaining from court during every hearing. The court reminded his lawyer that Jagan was granted bail in CBI cases on the condition that he would appear in person for all the court hearings. Jagan’s lawyer brought to the notice of the CBI Court that they have filed a petition in Telangana High Court challenging CBI Court’s earlier directions refusing exemption to Jagan from personal appearance, and said that the HC would very soon announce its verdict.
