The situation of electricity supply in the state of Andhra Pradesh has not been very favourable for the past few days, with the state experiencing constant outages of power supply, even though there has been no official announcement of any power outage. Power cuts are now taking place in AP under the name of load management.
On the other hand, the neighbouring state of Telangana is facing no power shortage, with all of its thermal plants running at full capacity. Telugu Desam Party Chief, and opposition leader, Chandrababu Naidu, questioned the need for Jagan’s government, pointing out the above fact. The explanation for AP’s power shortage, and Telangana’s lack, thereof, is very simple.
Telangana gets its power supply from Singareni Coal mines, which are situated within the state itself. Its thermal plants are also situated very near to the coal mines, which means that the shortage of power supply would be less in the state. On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh government doesn’t have coal mines of its own and majorly depends on the Mahanadi coal mine in Odisha, which is transported through railways. AP gets very less supply of coal from Telangana, which explains the power problems of AP.
