AP government’s decision to shift KRMB to Vizag baffles all!

The Andhra Pradesh government is hell bent on shifting the capital to Visakhapatnam, and has been trying to do everything in its power to make sure that this happens as soon as possible. What’s interesting is that the government is shifting almost every office – whether important or not – to Visakhapatnam.

The government is now eyeing to shift the Krishna Board office from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam, which is baffling everyone in the political community. When the united state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated to create a new state of Telangana, the Goddavari and Krishna River boards were formed, and each of these boards were handed over to each state. The Godavari River Board went to the Telangana state, and the Krishna River Board went to Andhra Pradesh.

As Hyderabad is the common capital for both the states for a period of 10 years, the Krishna River Board initially functioned from Hyderabad, but the Chandrababu government wrote several letters to the Center, to establish this office in Vijayawada. Even the YSRCP government initially wrote letters to the Center, to establish the board in Vijayawada, and the permission for that had also been granted.

Now, in a surprising turn of events, the YSRCP government has written a letter to the Center once again, to shift tthe office from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam. Many are arguing that this is a ridiculous idea as Visakhapatnam is more than 500 KM away from the Krishna river bed, and that it doesn’t make sense for the board to operate from such a distance.

With the government wanting to shift the board to Visakhapatnam, people residing in Kurnool have also started to demand for the shifting of the KRMB to Kurnool, instead of to Visakhapatnam, as Kurnool is much closer to the river, and so that the drinking water problems in Rayalaseema would be solved.
