AP government causing more losses for Tollywood

The Telugu Film Industry suffered enough due to the coronavirus pandemic, with daily wage workers being affected the most due to the pandemic. However, now that the industry is up and running once again, things are a lot better. Even though, things still need to get better, as major films are not still being released in theatres. The main reason for this is that the ticket prices for film in the state of Andhra Pradesh have been troublesome, with the AP government passing a GO before the second wave of the coronavirus, decreasing the prices of tickets.

AP CM Jagan even invited the big name of Tollywood for a meeting, to talk and sort things out, but an appointment was not given to them after they went to meet him. Now, an announcement has been made by the AP government stating that the booking of tickets and revenue of films would be completely controlled by the AP government. An online portal, on the lines of the IRCTC website, would be created for ticket booking, and all the revenues will have to be deposited into the AP government’s account.

This essentially means that the producer of the film has rights over the film only until it is ready and released in theatres. THere’s no clarity if the government will deposit at least some revenue into the producer’s account or not, and there’s also no clarity over when the online website will be ready. This is indeed a huge problem for Tollywood.
