The Andhra Pradesh government had earlier made an announcement that it wouldn’t be publishing any of its GOs to the public anymore, and would be privatising all of its orders. This decision was taken after each and every GO of the government’s was criticised by everyone. According to the many judgements given by many High Courts across the country, it is mandatory to make the GOs public knowledge, with the exception of a few, which could be kept private, if they were considered to be highly confidential and sensitive.
Many are of the opinion that the government is exploiting this loophole, by not releasing anything to the public. From the 6th though, the government is making some GOs available on the e-gazette website. While four GOs were available on the 6th, six were available on the 7th. With this, there is hope that the government will be releasing more gradually. With the GOs being released on e-gazette, none are now being uploaded on the GOIR website.
Given that many GOs are released every single day from various departments, it is interesting to see that only so many GOs are being uploaded on the e-gazette website. It is not that every GO is sensitive and shouldn’t be released to the public, which is why it is now to be seen if the government will go on to release more, or if it will stick to this plan.
