We all are aware that several parts of India had witnessed violent protests against the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment scheme, which was recently introduced by the Central government to recruit the soldiers for the Indian Armed uniformed services: Army, Navy and Air Force.
However, soldiers selected under this scheme can only be allowed to serve the country for a four-year tenure, while 25% of the total candidates will be subsequently inducted for regular service. This decision from the government irked the defence job aspirants, and many came out to protest against the scheme.
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced that it received 56,960 applications under the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment scheme till Sunday.
“56960! That’s the total number of applications received till date from future ‘Agniveers’ in response to the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment application process on https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in. Registration closes on July 5,” the IAF stated on Twitter on Sunday.
Amid the uncertainty over the future of Agniveers, many BJP-ruled states declared that the candidates who complete their 4-year tenure will be accorded priority in induction into state police forces. The centre already announced that they will have a preference in the recruitment of CAPFs.
