In the second phase of panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh, except for 2 panchayats in PR&RD Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy‘s own constituency ‘Punganur’, all the remaining were unanimous polls. In all five mandals, four mandals are said to be completely unanimous.
Minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy has shown his dominance in his area, but two panchayats are left behind. There are 23 panchayats in Punganur, 15 in Somala, 18 in Sadum and 10 in Rompicharla.
In the second phase gram panchayat polls, 539 positions of sarpanches and 12,605 ward members were elected unanimously. The SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar issued a statement Wednesday that 167 mandals were notified for the conduct of polls under phase-2, scheduled for February 13.
Among them, 3,328 offices of sarpanch were notified for election and of them, 539 were elected unanimously.
