Indian Premier League (IPL), which is one of the most watched series in the world, encountered postponement due to Covid-19. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly initially stated that IPL will take place at any cost in spite of the raising cases in India. Later on, BCCI decided to honor Central Government’s decision and postponed the game.
Recently, BCCI got the permission from the Central Government and the board decided to finalize UAE as the venue for this season as Covid-19 cases are raising in India. In the last 2 days, Covid-19 cases in UAE surged and the officials in the country are urging safety. The sudden spike in cases may continue for a while and this raised questions on IPL 13th season which is expected to start from September 19th.
As there are couple of weeks in between, BCCI officials are optimistic on IPL. Players and viewers safety is more important than the entertainment and BCCI is agreeing for that as well.
