Mayawati’s clarion call to throw Cong, BJP out

(Online Desk)

Bhahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday accused the BJP-led Narendra Modi government at the Centre’s failure on all fronts.  She also blamed the Congress in the same breath for making false promises to hoodwink people again.

Addressing a public meeting organized by her new ally, Jana Sena, at Lal Bahadur stadium on Thursday evening, she alleged BJP, which rode to power promising ‘ache din’ (good days) for the people had failed to uplift poor living under below poverty line (BPL) with its lopsided policies. Modi sarkar had also proved disastrous in tackling growing unemployment problem, she alleged.

She asked what happened to Modi’s tall promise to deposit Rs 15 lakh in every Indian citizen’s bank account, if voted to power in 2014.  She said, with its Hindutwa agenda, last five years it only promoted ‘insecurity’ among the minority Muslims as well SC/ST communities.

Turning her ire against the Congress, she said their ‘Nyay’- minimum income guarantee scheme – too going to be a cropper like Modi’s bank deposit.

“One would have appreciated and believed had the Congress implemented the scheme by depositing Rs 72,000 in each account of people in their party ruled states.

She claimed that when her party got an opportunity to serve the people in UP, it has provided one of best ‘people friendly governance.’  She expressed confidence that her party would perform better than expected along with SP in Lok Sabha polls, bagging maximum number seats and play a responsible role in formation of next government at the Centre in May.

Mayawati said her party forged an alliance with actor-turned politician and Jana Sena Chief Pavan Kalyan in Telangana and AP to closely work for betterment of thee weaker sections in both Telugu states.

She said as the Congress had failed in the past, the state was bifurcated to fulfill the aspirations of the people.  However, she said, even after formation of separate state, one could not find expected development in the new state.

According to her, the SCs, STs and OBCs, who combine constitute around 70 per cent of the population in Telangana, yet the TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, could manage to become the Chief Minister. His community only form a mere 1.5 to 2 per cent, she reminded him.

The JSP leader Pavan Kalyan had asked the TRS chief to keep his hands off from AP politics.  He reiterated that he respect KCR, but would not like him to meddle with AP state politics.
