Tollywood has been undergoing unforeseen circumstances. This is probably the first time that entire Tollywood has gone into shutdown. Corona virus has done severe damage right from the producers to daily wage workers. The condition now is not encouraging either now there is sudden spike on positive cases in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
However coming to the Tollywood report for the first quarter the story is the same old one. There are only three hits in these three months for Telugu Cinema. Super Star Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru, Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapuramulo, Nithiin’s Bheeshma brought smiles on the faces of producers and distributors.
There are few films which got released with good buzz but tanked at box office miserably. Sharwanand – Samantha’s Jaanu, Raviteja’s Disco Raja, Naga Shourya’s Aswathama all failed to entertain audiences and brought in losses to the parties involved. The story is same for March releases as well. Palasa 1978, O Pitta Katha failed miserably. After that theaters went into shut down eating out remaining March season.
From Ugadi, biggies in Tollywood are scheduled for release. However theaters are now in shut down mode.
