Several reports claim that Sai Dharam Tej’s Republic is heading for a theatrical and direct-to-digital (pay-per-view) release simultaneously. ZEE5 is reportedly holding talks with the producers regarding the digital rights of the film.
Incidentally, ZEE had previously acquired the rights of Sai Dharam Tej’s Solo Brathuke So Better by shelling out over Rs 30 crores.
Now, ZEE is said to be paying an even bigger amount for the rights of Republic. They are eager to grab the hybrid release rights of the Deva Katta directorial. Hence their willingness to offer a hefty deal to the producers.
Also, ZEE is ready to offer a share in theatrical revenues to the producers.
The makers of Republic cannot expect a better deal than this amid the Covid crisis. They surely would be tempted to sell the rights of the film to ZEE5.
