In an unexpected turn of events, Gopalapuram MLA Talari Venkatrao was attacked by his own party activists on Saturday morning at G Kothapalli village of Dwaraka Tirumala Mandal in Eluru district.
As per reports, the MLA had visited the village to enquire into the death of YSRCP leader Ganji Prasad, who was murdered. He wanted to meet the victim’s family, but the MLA was blocked by the Prasad community.
It is heard that there are two factions in the ruling YSRCP in the village. One of the two sides accused the MLA of supporting the murder of Ganji Prasad and they attacked him when he visited the village.
Vigilant police rescued the MLA. He was evacuated to a safe area with great difficulty. Talari Venkatrao sustained injuries in the incident. Police were heavily deployed there as conditions in the village became tense.
