The ruling YSRCP, despite its majority and power in Andhra Pradesh, is very much plagued by group politics within the party. There have been several instances where these politics got so bad that it was all over the media, and on a few occasions, Chief Minister YS Jagan had to intervene to cut out the drama.
Now, yet another similar instance is taking place in Kurnool, where heavy politics are going on between sitting MLA Abdul Hafeez Khan and former MLA S.V.Mohan Reddy, who are waging a war against each other, on social media, and in Kurnool as well. Each group is terming the other corrupt and looting people causing damage to YSRCP in Kurnool.
S.V.Mohan Reddy’s group got back on social media just for the sake of degrading Abdul Hafeez Khan, by posting that his group is corrupt and is demanding money for every work from people and as well as YSRCP leaders and cadre in Kurnool. They have also stated that Abdul has an approval rating of only 42% in the state, while Reddy’s group has an approval rating of 58%, and that the YSRCP has the chance to win the 2024 elections only if the party dumps Abdul. On the other hand, Abdul’s group is trying to get religion into the picture, to counterattack Reddy. With the TDP trying its best to take advantage of this situation, it is now to be seen how the issue will be resolved, and if Jagan will intervene.
