Yanamala Ramakrishnudu: Governor of AP should immediately intervene

TDP senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has suggested that the state governor should immediately respond to the situation in Andhra Pradesh.

He said it is the responsibility of the governor to prevent the ongoing constitutional breakdown in the state.

Yanamala said that under Article 243A and Article 243K (1), the Election Commission has full powers over the conduct of elections.

The government has no role in the conduct of elections. Yanamala clearly stated in Article 243K (1) states that “the State Election Commission is responsible for conducting, monitoring and controlling elections as well as conducting all elections in the Panchayats.”

He said the state government should not involve in releasing the election notification on the panchayat elections.

It is the responsibility of the government to allocate the required number of employees when the Election Commissioner requests the Governor on the conduct of elections.
